True Love: The Chase ~ Trusting God with Your Happily Ever After... Part IV

How can we trust God more deeply with our Happily Ever After?

Respect….

Love and respect go hand in hand…an amazing relationship need both love and respect to thrive. But first, that means you need to have love and respect for yourself. Remember that God displays perfect love toward us, he isn’t forceful with us; he respects us. God is always there for us, despite the ups and downs. This is how True Love really is as well. In addition to that, True love speaks respectfully to you and about you to other people… even in moments where things can get really crazy… and people need to vent… they can make a mistake and say hurtful things. They are human… but, in this area, they are to always be growing in deeper respect of you and for you. In True Love … Love and Respect always continues to grow… God will continue to reveal to you the ways you need to grow… as well as sometimes, how the the other person needs to grow. In moments of frustration remember that God has created you as a precious jewel… and that is how you are to be treated. You aren’t someone to be used or abused… and you aren’t someone who is to be treated disrespectfully or unlovingly. Sometimes people will hurt us in our lives, and sometimes those people are people we love or even the person God has chosen for us. Everything isn’t always perfect, but we are still to be treated with love and respect and we are to treat the person we are in love with, with love and respect.

We aren’t perfect, we are human. But in the difficult moments, remember you are also built for love - God created you for love. Foster a heart inside of yourself and inside of others that is grounded in love and respect. This includes being supportive of the person you are in love with. When there is something that is wrong speak with each other first about the problem, and not to everyone else. Also remember if someone isn’t treating you in a Godly way during dating etc…then it may be time to let them go. If they are the person God has chosen for you, God will lead them back to you… and the Holy Spirit will still be moving in both of you to draw both of you to each other. The right person for you, that God calls you to be with, will care about your heart, your relationship with God, your needs, and your feelings, as well as your body….. not just your body. If something is off with one of those areas, then maybe they need time to grow in their relationship with God, or may need to mature a little more before entering into marriage. Again, if they are the person God has chosen for you, the Holy Spirit will continue to work on their heart, and lead… and reveal to them that you are the person for them, and that they are the person for you…the Holy Spirit will lead you towards each other ….or will lead you back to each other if either of you need time to mature or to grow… and if they are really the person who is meant for you, that God created for you.

Also, you want to be with someone who knows what sacrificial love is and lives it out in a relationship with you, who treasures you and treasures your love; who appreciates you, loves you and respects you… and even when something points to the opposite of that - knows your heart well enough to know that you didn’t mean to be unloving or disrespectful etc. The right person will also trust their relationship with you to God, and God will lead them to you through the Holy Spirit. Your first home is in God, your second home is in yourself and then the person you are meant to be with. Your 3rd home is a physical place to thrive, and enjoy life together. Lastly, remember everyone has baggage… the person that is meant for you may need to work through part of that before they make a commitment to you. The Holy Spirit will continue to lead and guide. The Holy Spirit will open their heart to be the person God is calling them to be, in relation to you. Also, the flame of the Holy Spirit in True Love can never be extinguished… it just continues to grow until you are with the person God has chosen for you. This growth is not a growth that is superficial or immature… this is a growth that is growth of love in a deep and abiding way, but also one that is attracted to you physically, and craves deeper intimacy with you on every level. This, in itself is part of the maturing process of true love, and how you know love is true and true love. And even when they are far away from you… they will be reminded of you always and still crave deeper intimacy with you on every level (physically, sexually, emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, etc)… and you will be unforgettable to them, to the point, that they can no longer ignore how the Holy Spirit is leading them towards you, and the two of you together. This is also part of being in love and characteristics of True Love…. so is your same affection and calling to deeper intimacy with them.. this is a mutual calling inspired by the Holy Spirit…. even if sometimes things do not work out as planned (God knows sometimes the evening can be ruined or the mood can change or be ruined in a given day or evening etc.)…. True Love always triumphs over the trials and tribulations and draws the two closer together in heart space and head space first… then physically etc.

Another aspect of this respect is not pressuring the person to do things physically with you, until they are ready. This means you respect their boundaries, their body, and their heart, mind, and spirit. When you are chasing after God, your heart becomes pure and you want what is good for the other person. You do not pressure them to do something they may not be ready to do, until both of you are ready. Remember, the person you are meant to be with, is worth the wait! “Sex is a gift. A gift worth waiting for.” (145)….. In Love and Respect ~ we say I do. : )
