The Grenchus Foundation @ THE MET with Kate Oh & Kate Oh Gallery

A wonderful evening at THE MET 2022 EMPLOYEE ART SHOW: Artwork: Artists Working at the MET

with Kate Oh as her piece “LONGEVITY” is on display…

Opening Exhibition and Reception 06/07/2022

The Met Hosts an Exhibition of Employees’ Art, usually open for private view only, will be Open to the Public for the First Time, this year. You can view the collection from June 8-19th. More than 450 workers at the museum contributed works to the beloved exhibition, from security guards and technicians to librarians, registrars, and volunteers.

Daniel Kershaw, an exhibition design manager at the museum, has directed the show’s curatorial process for more than 20 years. Every piece of art submitted is traditionally included in the show, and staff members like Kershaw work after hours to install the exhibition in time.

Select pieces will be chosen to remain on exhibition in the MET by Dan Weiss President and CEO of the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Daniel Weiss is an American art historian who is the president and chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Weiss graduated from The Wheatley School in 1975, George Washington University’s Columbian College of Arts and Sciences with a B.A. in psychology and art history in 1979. In 1982 he graduated with a master's in medieval and modern art from John Hopkins University and subsequently, in 1985, obtained an MBA from the Yale School of Management. In 1992, he returned to Johns Hopkins and obtained a PhD in Western Medieval and Byzantine Art and a minor in classical Greek art and architecture. Dan Weiss is pictured in some of the photography below as he is evaluating Kate Oh’s piece. It was a very surreal moment, in that Kate knew her work would be evaluated to possibly be kept in the MET and on further exhibit after this event. It is also one of great excitement and joy to be able to support Kate Oh and celebrate with her this special moment as she awaits the decision as well as this moment of great opportunity for her.
